Beneath the Rain

a presentation about Pokemon X & Y, My personal thoughts:

I’ve been quite attracted to these new tittles a lot, It finally feels like new features has been added that increase the fun and complexity to the game series. In this video you hear the main focus of the game was connections, players able to interact between each other in the more ways possible. that’s really fantastic and has adquired such good level during the series of this franchise. Nontheless I thought they were forgetting about the main heart of the game which is: the pokemon battles.

correct me if I’m wrong but, Pokemon started as a strategy card game on a real life interaction, It was after this game succes that videogames and anime were developed. So the videogames weren’t card game fights but a fantasy of becoming a trainer and live “the pokemon world adventures”. That made us all dream from the first time we got in contact with the game.

In opposite to connections, the battle system has had so little evolution from the start. it has been mostly a battle of turns, speed mainly determines who attacks first (it doesn’t give you advances in the turns system as if you can’t get to attack more times than your opponent if you greatly surpass its speed) types were stablished from the beginning of the game mostly and as in the video says “in 14 years they haven’t add a new type”. a few of the addings were pokemon contest for becoming a pokemon coordinator, double battles, new attacks as new pokemon appeared and… and… and that was basically IT!.

Now, in these new tittles two more elements were added to the battle system: sky battles and hordes battles. very interesting twist. Hordes will help you develop your pokemon team quicker and sky battles will allow you to enjoy a new battle enviroment with new possibilities.

I understand the game has to be kept simple to maintain the product aiming population but it also has fans that has been with the franchise for as long as it exists. while they evolved their gaming skills, pokemon stood mainly the same in this single aspect I’m discussing. Graphics and other parts of the game play has very much evolved.

Finally, what would I wish for? I wish for an enhanced battle system were if it’s going to keep by turns It will allow more twist than “you first then I go after” as if colonial times wars, moreover, a new system where pokemon can move around a battle field, not an circle island, and performs the attacks comanded by trainer. is not that much to ask we’ve seen forms of this in other games. and since we are on wishing why the F. not a big console game?, not a pokemon stadium but a full adventure pokemon game huh?

sorry for the nerdy gamer paper about pokemon, lol, It had to come out of my mind hahaha hopefully someone would agree a bit with me. looking foward to these new tittles, that’s all,
